Tetrapleura tetraptera is a species of flowering plant in the family Fabaceae native to West Africa, which has a lot of amazing benefits. It is commonly called Aidan fruit, which is also known in Ghana’s local language as “Prekese”. It is also called Uhio (Uhiokrihio) in the Igbo Language of Nigeria.

The plant’s moist extract contains wound-healing ingredients. Research conducted at Uyo University found that the low concentration (200 mg/ml) is more effective than the higher concentration (200 mg/ml). As a result, using the plant’s lower dosage to cure wounds is recommended.

Preparation Of Healthy Prekese Juice

Equipment

  • Sieve
  • Cooking pot
  • Ingredients
  • 3 medium-sized prekese
  • Fresh ginger
  • Lemon juice (optional)
  • Water
  • Honey (optional).

  • Prekese should be well-washed, bruised, and broken into little pieces.
  • Fill a cooking pot halfway with water and bring to a boil over high heat.
  • Soak the prekese pieces in warm water for at least 30 minutes and up to an hour, covered with a lid. The longer it soaks, the more juice and flavor it extracts from its pods.
  • Lemon juice should be squeezed, and ginger should be washed and crushed.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the soaked prekese, lemon juice, and crushed ginger.
  • Allow 30 minutes for the process to complete. This helps the ginger to infuse well in the juice.
  • Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove the ginger stalk.
  • Add honey to taste and stir properly until it dissolves.
  • Pour the juice into a bowl or bottle and preferably place it in the fridge to chill.
    You can serve chilled or hot.

How do you make Prekese tea?

  • Pour water into a cooking pot and boil it over high heat.
  • Soak the pieces of Prekese in warm water and cover them with a lid.
  • Let the Prekese soak for about 30 minutes to an hour.
