Bolt Registration In Ghana Requirements

If you are looking for bolt registration in Ghana, then i’m sure you know a bit about the ride service. Bolt is an Estonian mobility company established in August 2013 by Markus Villig that offers vehicle for hire, micro mobility, car-sharing, and food delivery services.

So many drivers and car owners are making a living on the Bolt service in Ghana. In this article, we’ll take you through a step by step process on how to register and become a bolt driver in Ghana. You’ll also get to know about Bolt commission structure in Ghana and how bolt works in Ghana.

Bolt is known to be operating in about 30 countries of the world including Ghana. The company made a huge sum of €79.7 million in 2018, from their riding services. Certainly, the company has come to stand and stand firm.

To register as a driver on the Bolt Ghana platform, you must meet the following driving requirements:

  • Be at least 25 years old
  • Have a valid Ghana driver’s license
  • Have a vehicle that meets the accepted criteria
  • Have an Android or iPhone smartphone with GPS.

Here Is How To Register For Bolt In Ghana?

If you have these requirements, you may continue to complete the following steps to sign up as a driver:

Step 1: Registration.

The Bolt service works with an App. and one can download the Bolt App on Google PlayStore or Apple Store. With Bolt, you can simply register, call for a driver. Get picked up and taken to your destination. Pay for the trip. Simple. Visit the application portal to start the registration process.

  1. Register through the sign-up portal and follow the application process:
  2. Enter your email address, phone number and city
  3. Fill in your personal details
  4. Fill in your National ID (Driver’s License Number) and License Number (Reference number of the License)
  5. Upload all the required documents and their expiry dates
  6. Fill in your payment details i.e. mobile money wallet where you want to receive payments:

Please Note

  • Select Person as your Billing Type
  • Your name as the Mobile Money Wallet Name
  • Your MoMo number starting with 233 as your Mobile Wallet Number
  • Your network provider is Mobile Money Network.

Step 2: Complete Training.

Please allow a period of 48 hours for the application review process to take place. Once you have completed your registration, you should be sent an SMS with a link to take the training.

Step 3: Activation.

After you have completed the training, your application will be processed as soon as possible. You should receive an SMS with a link to create a password to log in to your account. You may have a period of 48 hours thereafter to complete your first trip to activate your profile.

As a safety precaution, Bolt Ghana works with registered drivers who have their own car. These drivers are connected to passengers by the company. The company now gets some percentage of the trip fare, after a successful trip has been delivered.

Bolt Vehicle Requirements in Ghana

In order for your car to be eligible on bolt platform, it must meet the following requirements:

  • Be manufactured in 2005 or later
  • Have air conditioning
  • Be a private vehicle (government, taxi or rebuilt vehicles are not eligible)
  • Have a valid Third Party/Comprehensive Insurance
  • Have a valid Roadworthiness Certificate
  • Complete vehicle registration.

Note: Vehicles that do not meet the requirements will not be accepted.

Needed Documents for Bolt Registration in Ghana

When signing up to drive with Bolt in Ghana, you would need to provide the following documents:

  • Valid Ghanaian driver’s license (if it is a temporary license which has been extended, make sure to provide proof)
  • Third-Party or Comprehensive insurance policy or sticker
  • Roadworthiness Certificate sticker
  • Clear and front-facing profile picture (please do not wear sunglasses when taking the picture).

How much do bolt drivers make a day in Ghana?

The average monthly earnings of a Bolt driver in Accra is GHC 3000. From the final price per order, Bolt charges 25% commission.

How do bolt drivers get paid?

The Bolt payment cycle runs weekly, and earnings are calculated from 00:00 Monday to 23:59 Sunday. At the end of each week, Bolt will send you a statement.

Negative balance: your in-app payments, compensations, and bonuses were not enough to cover the 25% commission charge per ride.
