How To Transfer Airtime From MTN To Other Networks

For individuals patronizing multiple network service providers, you are sometimes challenged on how to transfer airtime from MTN to other networks you may be using. The need to credit your other network with airtime may be urgent, and you may find that inconvenient.

Sometimes, you may have to purchase airtime from your MTN SIM to a friend or relative on another network provider. How then do you transfer airtime from MTN to other networks? Fortunately, MTN has provided an easy way to settle this problem.

In this article, we will take you through easy methods you can employ to learn how to transfer airtime from MTN to other networks.

How to Transfer airtime from MTN to other networks

You can transfer airtime from MTN to other networks by using

  1. USSD method
  2. Mobile money method
  3. MTN mobile app

 Using the USSD method

You can send airtime from MTN to other networks by employing the following steps

  • Dial *234# on your mobile or smartphone
  • Select #1 ( Buy Airtime) from the pop-up menu
  • Choose the network you are sending the credit to, whether
  1. Vodafone
  2. AirtelTigo
  • Enter the recipient’s mobile number
  • Type in the amount you want to purchase for the input number
  • Choose option #1 (Proceed) for your action
  • Select your mobile money network
  • Wait for the authorization payment pop-up
  • Insert your confidential Momo pin
  • Select option #1 (Yes) to confirm your transaction
  • A message indicating you have successfully purchased airtime from your Momo account will be sent to you immediately

 Using the Mobile Money method

Another method on how to transfer airtime from MTN to other networks is by employing the following steps

  1. Dial *170# on your mobile or smartphone
  2. From the pop-up menu, choose #3 for Airtimes and Bundles
  3. Choose #1 for Airtime from the menu that pops up
  4. Select #4 for Other Networks
  5. Enter the recipient’s phone number into the slot that pops up
  6. Re-enter the recipient’s number again
  7. Input the amount you want to purchase
  8. Reply with 1 to confirm you want to proceed with transactions
  9. You will receive a Momo confirmation message. Type in your Momo pin
  10. Click on OK and approve transactions
  11. You will receive a successful transaction message or saying failed transaction message if it didn’t go through

Using the MTN mobile app

The MTN mobile application makes it easier for you to transfer airtime from MTN to any network in Ghana. You only need to:

  • Download the mobile app from the Play Store or Appstore
  • Install the mobile app on your smartphone
  • Log in to your MTN account

After a successful installation and login on your phone, heed the following

  1. Open the MTN mobile app on your phone
  2. At the bottom of the webpage, choose SEND/BUY
  3. Choose AIRTIME from the menu
  4. Tap on the icon for OTHER NETWORKS
  5. Enter the number you want to transfer airtime to and tap on CONTINUE
  6. Choose MoMo as the method for payment and tap on CONTINUE
  7. Enter the amount you want to purchase and proceed
  8. Confirm the details you have submitted and proceed
  9. Input your MoMo pin and confirm.
