An Accra High Court presided over by His Lordship Justice Daniel Mensah Monday granted an interlocutory injunction against the National Identification Authority (NIA).Lawyers for the applicants, Justice Srem-Sai Esq., Godwin Dzah Esq and Francis Kwarteng Arthur Esq., prayed the court that the respondent must be restrained as their continued defiance of the President’s orders.
Otherwise it will deprive the applicants of their derivative rights if they (the applicants) decide to heed the president’s call and stay away from the crowd, which is normally associated with this registration exercise.
But shortly after the NIA mounted a spirited defense for its continuous registration exercise in the Eastern region, it made a U-turn suspending the exercise indefinitely.
But in staying away, the respondents would be, on the other hand, defying the same directives.
The ex-parte application was brought by some residents in the Eastern Region led by Prince Tabi.
