Ghanaian musical duo, Dope Nation, composed of twin brothers, has unveiled their latest musical endeavor – a unique sound they’re calling ‘Ghanapiano.’
The brothers appeared on TV3 Newday, hosted by Berla Mundi, where they shared their inspiration for this new musical direction. They highlighted that their hit song ‘Gboza’ served as a starting point for the ‘Ghanapiano’ sound, incorporating elements reminiscent of Hammer’s tunes.
Despite concerns about controversy, Dope Nation clarified that they intend to acknowledge and blend various musical influences while introducing something fresh.
They explained that the name ‘Ghanapiano’ reflects their fusion of Ghanaian cultural musical elements with the piano, as evident in ‘Gboza.’ This innovative sound is a mix of the popular South African amapiano style, intertwined with Ghanaian culture.
To master this fusion, the duo collaborated with South African producers, learning the intricacies of amapiano and integrating them into their project.
Dope Nation emphasized that their journey toward ‘Ghanapiano‘ was guided by mentorship from South African friends who opened their world to amapiano’s production techniques, resulting in a Ghanaian-infused yet amapiano-inspired sound.
