How to Apply for Ghana NTC Licensure Examination

The Education Regulatory Bodies Act 2020 (ACT 1023) gives the National Teaching Council the power to regulate the teaching profession in Ghana. In line with their responsibilities, the National Teaching Council conducts licensure examinations to assess all people who aspire to become teachers.

With the Licensure Examination, qualified teachers can acquire professional licenses that prepare them with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver efficiently in schools.

Who Qualifies For The Licensure Examination?

If you hold a Diploma in Basic Education (DBE), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), or a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), M.Ed., then you qualify for the licensure examination.

NTC Licensure Examination Registration Fees.

  • GHȻ 350.00 for candidates registering for the first time.
  • GHȻ 150.00 for candidates who failed in one subject and are re-sitting.
  • GHȻ 210.00 for candidates who failed in two subjects and are re-sitting.
  • Candidates who are re-sitting all three papers are to pay GHȻ 350.00.

Mode Of Payment For NTC Licensure Examination Registration Fees.

To make payment, use the short code *772*51# on all networks or visit any Prudential Bank Ltd nationwide to make a payment. 

Before you make a bank payment, you have to notify the bank whether you are a fresh candidate or re-sitting in either one or two papers.

How To Apply For NTC Licensure Examination.

  • Log in to exams.ntc.gov.gh
  • After that, enter your e-voucher Serial number and PIN. Make sure to choose your examination center.
  • Now, input all the required information such as name, contact, address, qualification, school name, program of study, and class obtained into all the fields, and make sure to upload your passport-size photograph. 
  • Review the information provided and submit.
  • Print a summary of the inputs made and the examination timetable.
  • Make sure to keep your PIN and Serial numbers after registration for future use.

Form of Examination.

  • The examination comes in three parts, namely;
  • Test on General Professional Knowledge. This paper comprises numeracy, literacy, and essential professional skills content.
  • Grade-level Specialism Pedagogy paper. Levels of specialization differentiate the pedagogues. That is Early Grade or Early Childhood, Primary and JHS, SHS/SHTS, and Technical Vocational Schools.
  • Multiple Subjects Content or Single Subject Content Knowledge (subject specialism)
  • Multiple Subjects Content: prospective teachers who are trained for Early Grade/Early Childhood or Primary levels will write Multiple Subjects Content Papers for their respective levels, since they will teach all subjects in their respective classes.
  • Single Subject Specialism: prospective teachers who are trained for junior high, senior high, or TVET will write one paper in their areas of specialization.
