Okailey Verse, commonly known as OV, has issued a bold challenge to Stonebwoy, her former label head, Livingstone Setakla, urging him to address the speculation surrounding her departure from the Burniton Music Group.
OV rose to fame after clinching victory in the 2019 edition of the MTN Hitmaker music reality TV competition, showcasing her remarkable stage presence and musical talents. Her triumph led to a contract with the Burniton Music Group (BMG).
Following her signing with the label, she released the hit single ‘Want Me,’ featuring the renowned reggae/dancehall artist Stonebwoy. Nevertheless, their partnership was short-lived. In mid-2019, surprising news emerged that OV, along with her labelmate Kelvyn Boy, had parted ways with the record label.
This unforeseen turn of events triggered widespread speculations, leaving many perplexed. Despite various allegations suggesting that OV, Kelvyn Boy, and the former manager of Stonebwoy, Black Cedi, were released due to questionable activities, both parties have kept the exact reasons for their departure undisclosed.
In a recent interview on Kwaku Manu’s ‘Aggressive Show,’ OV disclosed that Stonebwoy, her former boss, holds the key to why they parted ways with the label. She expressed reluctance to delve into specifics but threw down a direct challenge to the media: “I challenge you, presenters, to inquire about the reasons behind our departure from the label and encourage him to reveal the truth.”
