Nursing mothers and pregnant students: In a display of unwavering determination and inclusivity, this year’s BECE in the Bia West District of the Western North Region has seen seven nursing mothers and 14 pregnant girls among the candidates.
This exceptional example of resilience underscores the importance of education’s accessibility and empowerment regardless of life circumstances.
Remarkably, eight of the pregnant girls are participating in the examination at New Bonzian D/A, while three are taking the test at Adjoafua Junior High School. Additionally, one pregnant girl each is writing at Bia SEC/TEC, Kwamebikrom R/C Primary, and Adjoafua Methodist “B” centres.
Among the nursing mothers, four are taking the examination at New Bonzian D/A centres, while two are at Yawmatwa D/A. Another nursing mother is demonstrating her dedication by participating in the examination at Kwamebikrom R/C Primary School centre.
Peter Asiedu, the Bia West Education Directorate Examination Officer, has assured that preparations are well underway for the examination. He reported that out of the total registered candidates from 68 public and 19 private schools, 20 candidates (11 males and 9 females) were absent on the first day of the examination.
Mr Asiedu further highlighted that nursing mothers are receiving assistance from their family members to ensure their babies’ care, further illustrating the community’s supportive and collaborative spirit.
In a district boasting 11 examination centres, a total of 2,214 candidates have registered for this year’s BECE in the Bia West District. This remarkable blend of diverse circumstances and aspirations showcases the power of education to transcend challenges and unite a community in its pursuit of knowledge and personal growth.
The perseverance and dedication of these nursing mothers and pregnant girls exemplify the spirit of never giving up, the essence of education as a tool for empowerment, and the undeniable fact that every individual deserves equal opportunities to succeed. Their journey serves as an inspiring reminder that education is not just a path to success but also a path to breaking down barriers and shattering stereotypes.
