Singer Fameye recently voiced his disappointment at not clinching the ‘Songwriter of the Year’ award during the recent VGMA awards ceremony. While speaking with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, the ‘Praise’ sensation conveyed his belief that he was deserving of the accolade.
He mentioned, “Honestly, I felt a bit let down, even though these awards are primarily for boasting rights. Sometimes, your fans also feel disheartened because they want those boasting rights to proudly support you.”
Fameye, who ultimately lost out to Gospel artist Perez Muzik in the category, admitted that he anticipated Piesie Esther might win instead, stating, “Honestly, I thought that if I didn’t win, Piesie Esther might be the one to claim it.”
Among the nominees in the same category were Black Sherif, Diana Hamilton, Ewura Abena, Piesie Esther, and Perez Muzik. Additionally, Fameye admitted that he had never heard the winning song by Perez Musik until it was announced as the victor.
However, he acknowledged, “I didn’t even know Perez’s song. I only heard it after they announced him as the winner in the auditorium. But I believe he deserved it because it sounded great when they played it.”
