Alordia, the Founder and CEO of the Ghana Music Awards UK Ghana Music Awards UK (GMA-UK), has shared the challenges he’s faced in organizing the prestigious music awards event. He emphasized his unwavering determination, stating that he doesn’t entertain the idea of giving up, regardless of the difficulties he encounters.
Speaking during an interview at the launch of the 7th edition of GMA-UK at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, Alordia addressed misconceptions about the ease of organizing such events. He highlighted the financial demands of putting together a high-profile event like the awards, mentioning expenses such as venue costs, top-quality sound systems, and payments to MCs and performers.
The event initially began without sponsorship and was independently funded for the first five years. However, Alordia expressed gratitude for the support of Tabea Herbal, the title sponsor that came on board last year and continued their partnership for the current edition.
Alordia’s Alordia Promotions, which oversees GMA-UK, has a profound passion for the awards ceremony due to its significant benefits to both Ghanaian and UK-based musicians. He pointed out that the awards foster successful collaborations between artists from Ghana and those based abroad, leading to notable achievements in the music industry. He also acknowledged the event’s positive impact on the business side of the industry.
Looking ahead to this year’s GMA-UK, scheduled for October 7, 2023, at the Royal Regency Palace in the UK, Alordia expressed utmost readiness for the event. He conveyed a commitment to continuous improvement and growth, asserting that GMA-UK’s success trajectory will not falter.
